Imperial Imperial Grape Blue 9-Inch Bowl

Now here is a blue Imperial Grape 9-inch round bowl made by the Imperial Glass Company. We just love blue Imperial and when I saw this bowl listed on E-bay, I had to go for it.

I have researched all the resources for Imperial blue glass items and have come up empty on this particular round bowl. None have ever surfaced till this one ten years ago.

It was an auction with a very high starting bid of $2,500. I waited and watched the auction end. The photo was really bad and made it look like it was covered in pewter iridescence. No wonder no one would bite on it. I knew who the seller was from her buying from me before and from me buying from her before. I wrote her and asked if she could send another photo.

Yes, that is what I needed to see. I paid her price and waited. When it arrived and I unwrapped it, it again was a totally different bowl. Very hard to photograph. Electric blue & purple iridescence all on the inside, sides of the bowl, as electric as you can get. Not much down in the bottom, but some. It was outstanding and a bowl that is the only one known, to date. I was very lucky indeed to have asked for another photo and then take a chance and hit the jackpot when it arrived.
