Millersburg Rose Columns Green Vase

Description

This 9 1/2" vase was purchased for me by a friend during a road trip in August of 2014. He discovered it at an antique shop while traveling to a Burns auction which featured the late Billy Richards, Sr. collection in Ohio.

Over the telephone, we agreed how difficult these were to find, especially pretty ones, and he said this was as nice a one he'd ever seen. What he liked the most about it was how nice the strike was in that the roses were crisp and sharply detailed. Many of these vases have more subtle, softly shaped roses. He also said he knew I would love the gorgeous golden glow around the outside and inside of the ruffles.

Upon its arrival, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised and very happy with the elegance I was holding in my hands. In comparing it with other examples, I knew it was above average in iridescence. It would be a long time before I could find a better one and it certainly makes an excellent companion for my amethyst one. They look really pretty next to each other because they "lend" each other their colors via their radium reflections. These vases are also known in aqua, blue, and marigold as well.

A big "Thank You" goes out to my good friend. I commend him for his excellent taste!
