Fenton Horse Medallion Green Bowl

Description

This Horse Medallion bowl was a purchase from an auction here in the UK. It was one of many Carnival glass lots auctioned by The Cotswold Auction Company featuring  the collection belonging to the late Mr. Alan Sedgwick who was a member of the UK Carnival Glass Society. The collection was large enough for the auction company to run two separate auctions.

I viewed the Carnival glass to be auctioned on the Saturday before the auction and I'm so glad I did as this beautiful bowl was hidden amongst several other pieces and was not visible in the picture the auction house had provided for their catalogue. I'm a horsey girl and have owned, bred and ridden horses for over thirty years and I have been after a nice Medallion bowl for some time.

When I pulled this piece out from the other Carnival glass I knew this was the one and was prepared to bid strong. Luckily for me the competition for this piece was not strong and this bowl came home with me.

I absolutely love this bowl. The colour simply amazes me how beautiful it is and it has a prized spot at the front of one of my cabinets. The horse design on this pattern was based on the famous painting "The Pharaoh's Horses" by John Frederick Herring.

This bowl was produced by Fenton it measures 7 3/4" and has a green base.
