Eda Sweden Dessin Purple Rosebowl

Description

My friend in Sweden heard about me having a stroke and decided to send me a piece of glass to make me feel better.

At first I didn't know the pattern or maker until I searched the ever reliable Thistlewood books on carnival glass. I looked in "A Century of Carnival Glass" and it was there I found the pattern name and the origin of this bowl. The pattern is called Dessin and it was made by Eda of Sweden.

This is a rather large rosebowl being 4" high and 8" wide and is stated in the book that it is made only in marigold and blue. Purple is not listed. This could be the only one reported in purple.

What an outstanding gift. Did it make me feel better? You damn right it did!
