Northwood Peacock & Urn Aqua Opal Large Ice Cream Shape Bowl

Description

Here is the amazing journey of this beautiful, iconic bowl as told to me by Tom Mordini.

There was a woman who bought this bowl new, in the teens of the 20th Century. She probably paid a couple dollars for it at that time. She had this bowl for many years and at one important time in her life, she had a daughter. The daughter grew up with this bowl and at some point, told her mother that she would like to have it. When the daughter married, Mom gave it to her as one of her wedding gifts.

The daughter lived in Florida and, in 2006, crossed paths with Floridian, Jim Vasquenza, who was into antiques. At the time, she had other Carnival glass and invited Jim to her home in hopes that he would buy it. She told him that it was all for sale except this bowl, being a gift from her Mother. Jim told her that she just might change her mind after he makes an offer on it. The offer was made and her mind was changed.

Jim then called Tom Mordini to see if he might be interested in purchasing the bowl. Tom was and the bowl changed hands again. In 2006, Tom sold the bowl to Jackie Poucher.

In September 2014, Jackie sold all her glass at an auction in Kansas City, Missouri that I call "The Event". We attended this history making auction and kept bidding on this bowl until the gavel went down and we became the new caretakers of this magnificent piece.
