Northwood Peacock at the Fountain Electric Blue Pitcher & Tumbler

Description

I saw my first Northwood, electric blue, Peacock at the Fountain water pitcher sometime in the fall of 1997. I told Sherry that some day we are going to have one of those. It has taken 18 years to finally get my chance.

Jim Seeck does an online only auction for the ACCGC (Air Capital Carnival Glass Club) convention that was in October of 2015. In that auction was this pitcher. I finally had the chance to get this Bucket List piece of mine. People at the convention were on their laptops, tablets & smart phones bidding and people like myself were at home on their computer.

The bidding for this pitcher would go back and forth with me and two other people at the convention. Finally, after about 45 minutes of bidding, it was over. My friend, Emmett Morgan, President of the Texas Club, won it there at the convention, or so he thought. This is what I was told. Emmett went up to get the pitcher and was walking back to his seat with it when Jim Seeck, the auctioneer said, "Ah, Emmett, the last bid came in and Dick Betker won it."

Being good friends, they had a good laugh about it. Just as it should be.
