Northwood Acorn Burrs Emerald Green Punch Bowl Set

Description

I purchased this set from Gary Heavin in April of 2011. He bought it at the 2006 HOACGA Convention featuring the Pete & Paula Bingham Collection. The second to the last photo was taken by Gary where he had it displayed in a beautiful oak cabinet in his home. Gary always said, "Carnival glass loves oak."

I asked Pete if he had any history on it. He told me he had two Acorn Burr punch sets that sold at that auction, this emerald green one and an amethyst one (which I also purchased later from Rick Stockhill of Michigan). Both were "out of this world" pretty and were the best he had ever seen.

He purchased them from a fella from Virginia by the name of Ken Denhl who abruptly decided to give up his Carnival collecting hobby to persue his muscle car career instead. Ken had purchased them from the Bill Richards/ Tom Burns auction group.

Pete recalls that Billy Smith delivered them to him at an ACGA convention where he and Paula displayed them in their room. He said "everyone just went nuts over them."

It measures 10 1/2" tall and 10 1/2" wide. It has beautiful blue highlights everywhere. The last photo is from the Wroda Auction catalog from the HOACGA convention auction pages.
