Fenton Horse Medallion Emerald Green Ruffled Bowl

Description

I bought this stunning bowl from Gary Heavin in September of 2014. He purchased it during the April 28, 2012 HOACGA convention which featured the Arnold & Dorothy Snell collection. The last picture shown is from the Seeck auction catalogue for that auction.

It's the closest known example of emerald green in this pattern. It has a beautiful blue glow of iridescence over its green base glass. I'm not a purist when it comes to this color. The glow is unmistakable even though other colors may peek through.

It's based on the reversed image of the popular 1848 painting Pharaoh's Horses by British sporting and animal painter John Fredrick Herring Sr. Many believe Herring is not the original artist and its history goes way back before him. You'll find books have been written on this subject that are quite fascinating.
