Fenton Dragon & Lotus Amethyst Opal 8-Ruffle Bowl
Description
We attended our first two Carnival Glass Club auctions in 2003 -- the Sunshine State Carnival Glass Association convention in January and the Texas Carnival Glass Club convention in February. By the time 2007 rolled around we were hooked on attending conventions and the outstanding carnival glass that was being sold at the convention auctions.
At the January 2007 SSCGA convention auction in Florida we were surprised to see a piece in a color we did not know existed, Amethyst Opal. It was a Fenton 8-ruffle Dragon & Lotus bowl from the Bill & Sandy Reyan Collection and during the auction preview it whispered to us, “Take me home.”
Well, we bid on it, and in spite of the fact that my husband’s mother, who has a huge collection of Dragon & Lotus pieces, was at the auction, we won it. We have never seen another one and it is a cherished piece in our collection.
