Fenton #847 Melon Rib Marigold Small Low Footed Bowl

Description

Shown is the first multi-colored Marigold bowl I’ve seen or have found listed anywhere in this color and size that has typical Carnival Glass iridescence rather than the usual Grecian Gold color which is a pale marigold. The size is 7 1/2” wide and 2” tall.

On this one, the color combination is a dark pumpkin Marigold, with almost a red hue to it, and although it doesn’t show very well in the photos, each of the eight panels on the interior has somewhat of a sparkling, brilliant green iridescence with a touch of gold in the middle. The iridescence in each panel is quite bold and evenly distributed.

Fenton made this pattern for many years in various sizes and in a host of colors;  in a variety of iridized glass with the “Stretch” effect and in many non-iridized colors. The only non-stretch Carnival glass color treatment I’ve seen is in the large bowl in Fenton’s “Grecian Gold” line, which is a light marigold color only.

At this time I would consider it as rare unless others are reported, but not especially on the expensive side of Carnival items. I would love to know if there are other iridized, non-stretch glass pieces in this pattern of other colors and/or shapes.
