Dugan Vineyard Purple Water Pitcher & Tumbler

Description

In January, 1999, while attending an Extravaganza auction by Mickey Reichel, I purchased an outstanding purple Vineyard tumbler, made by Dugan. I then told Sherry, my wife, that the hunt was now on to find the pitcher that would go with that tumbler.

In November, 2004, while then attending a Customer Appreciation auction given by Jim Wroda, I finally had my chance to get the pitcher we were looking for. I thought that the purple Vineyard pitcher that Jim had in the auction was the perfect match to our tumbler and Sherry agreed. We had brought our tumbler along for comparison and that sealed the deal.

I just could not believe all the interest that pitcher was generating and before I could even put a bid in, it was over $1,000 and going strong. Finally the bidding slowed and then stopped. Jim was asking for another bid several times, and then.......I decided to STRIKE. Someone came back and I struck again.......and again until no one came back at me.

The pitcher finally sold, to us, and we both let out a couple of Whoo hoo's! and cheers due to our excitement of finally getting the pitcher we have been hunting.

Does it match? Check out the photo and see what you think. This was our second successful hunt for a particular piece of carnival glass and definitely not our last.  Another great reward of collecting carnival glass is to be successful on a hunt.

May all your hunts be as successful and rewarding as ours.
