Dugan Fanciful Blue Plate

Description

I believe I bought this Dugan Fanciful blue plate in mid 2017 from Woody Schaeffer. The thing I found unusual about it, was it was blue and had a radium finish. You don’t see that too often with Dugan glass products. That radium finish just popped and the pattern just stood out.

I read somewhere the Fanciful pattern was in production around 1905 to 1908. The back pattern is Big Basketweave and is not iridescent.

Fanciful is made in bowls and plates only. They can be found in amethyst, blue, marigold, peach opal and white. The colors I have seen the most have been amethyst and peach opal. The other colors can be found with due diligence and time.

Blue can be somewhat common in plates, yet rare in the bowls. A fairly busy pattern that is quite popular with lots of collectors.

My plate is 8 3/4 inches across and stands at 1 3/8 inches tall and has a saw-tooth edge.
