Faglaviks of Sweden Poppy Spray Green Vase

Description

I bought this pretty green vase from my friend, Fredric Hultman,in Sweden during the summer of 2016. I was excited to see it on eBay because I had wanted one ever since I fell in love with Glen & Stephen Thistlewood's purple one I saw on their website here, on  Carnival Glass Worldwide , where you can read about the fascinating history of this vase and others like it made by Faglaviks. The last photo shows their beautiful vase, courtesy of the Thistlewoods.

Faglaviks of Sweden produced glass in the base colors purple, green, and marigold. One Vaseline vase has been reported by myself as well, in a pattern called Spirals as shown here on Showcase and Carnival Glass Worldwide.

I love how Faglaviks made their vases in unusual shapes in their different patterns. I am beginning to recognize immediately a Faglaviks vase when I see one now. Here's why. These were blown in the mould which is why there is no pontil or mould seams so the top rims had to be ground and polished. On both the Poppy Spray and Spiral vases, the pattern wraps around the whole vase continuously, even extending down to cover underneath the base.

This vase of medium weight and stands 9 7/8" tall, has a 4" top opening, and a base diameter of 2 5/8".
